Definition of Done

Definition

The Definition of Done (DoD) is a checklist that lists all criteria that a developer must satisfy before a ticket can be considered as done.

It was originally defined as part of the SCRUM process to decide whether the ticket would count towards the team's velocity.

We use the concept to decide whether the ticket can be notified as done to the product owner.

Best practices

Every project should have a Definition of Done.

The DoD should be realistic, and free of unattainable criteria.

The DoD MUST be respected without exception.
